Johnny DeMaddalena

Managing Partner

Johnny became involved with Bitcoin and digital assets in 2013.  He then worked raising venture capital with startups in Kansas City, Missouri.  He and his teams built marketing campaigns, sales pipelines, and engaged with clients worldwide.  Johnny then worked on research and modeling for digital asset positions at a research desk.  He began providing strategic consulting for early-stage digital asset companies and investors.  In 2021 this experience spawned DeMaddalena Capital starting with deep expertise in bitcoin spot and credit markets.


Kusal Kularatne

Head of Investor Relations

Kusal started his career as an analyst on corporate growth projects. He then worked in operations building open-source, privacy-oriented voice technology. Kusal then built a sales pipeline for an emerging real estate offering. Kusal got involved with digital assets in 2017.

Erick Ramos Murillo

Erick Ramos Murillo has extensive experience serving as a strategist and consultant in private high-tech startups, governments, and multinational organizations. He was co-founder and CEO of RemesaTel Corporation, designing and executing strategic and financial decisions at the national level for the Central Bank of Mexico and the Inter-American Development Bank. He represented Mexico at the Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund and, as part of the World Bank, he advised more than 40 municipal governments around the world. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Economics from Universidad Iberoamericana, a Master's degree in Economic Development from Harvard University with a business concentration at MIT, and a Postgraduate in Business Management from Boston University.

Scott Eshom

Scott Eshom serves as Director of Programs at The Critical Mass, bringing over 15 years of multidisciplinary experience combining program management, International Development, Counter-Terrorism, Special Operations, Finance, National Politics, and Consulting.​ Scott previously worked with two presidential campaigns and advised non and for-profit organizations on economic development, venture fundraising, and entrepreneurship. He was a Private Banker at Goldman Sachs and earlier served in the US Army, completing his career as a Special Forces Officer/Green Beret. In this role, he served as a strategic advisor to senior US and foreign executives and managed crisis response activities and relationships throughout the Middle East. He is a graduate of the US Army’s Special Forces Qualification Course, Ranger School, Sapper Leader Course, Military Freefall Course, and Airborne School, among others.

Carlos Balbin

Carlos has 19 years of experience in banking and financial services industries, performing in several roles such as investment banker, commercial banker, commodity researcher, hedge fund accounting/operations manager, senior strategy consultant and senior payments risk manager in Fortune 500 companies such as American Express, Cognizant, US Bancorp, Citibank, and Scotiabank. He has been following the Blockchain technology and applications since 2015 and has developed points of view and advised on strategic use cases related to several industries. He brings to the advisory table a myriad of Strategy, Finance, and Operations capabilities, able to perform industry/competitive analysis, modeling, valuations, data-driven insights, negotiations, and persuasive presentations. Carlos holds an MBA from Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University.
